Although I still had a horrible night’s sleep on Wednesday night, I felt like it was easier to get my leg in a comfortable position overnight, so I woke up in a better frame of mind on Thursday (7/21). Michael took me to quilting and I must admit, it gave me a very warm feeling to be greeted with applause and cheers when I entered. We had wonderful show and tell:
-these are beaded pictures from Jerri
-and Floy made 14 dresses for Africa!
-Susie found napkin making material in the free pile and made a bunch for her daughter-in-law
Susie brought me home after NOON. Michael and I hopped in the car after that and headed to Charlotte for an appointment with the surgeon. He was very pleased with my progress and said everything on the x-rays was positioned exactly where he wanted it. I need to see him again at the end of September. He was very excited that I was already at a 100 degree bend, and indicated that if I just got 5 more degrees every week, I’d be at 120 in a month and right on track.
The only thing I managed to get done on Friday (7/22) was a visit to the library, supposedly to pick up a book on hold…however the book wasn’t on the shelves, not in the library at all, nor at the library it came from….so that was a puzzlement. Miss Susan (one of the librarians) said she would put it on hold for me again. Something interesting happened on my way into the library…I ran into Clare M, and acquaintance of long standing….since the beginning days of SCCL. She told me how much she liked the quilt wall hangings, and then said ‘’we tried for years (and I’m assuming the ‘’we’’ in her sentence is the FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY GROUP) to get them to let us hang something, and they wouldn’t go for it…so I am very glad to see your panels in there’’. I have no idea what they tried to have hung up….or why the answer was no, but I guess I should feel very lucky that they hung my heart panels.
Saturday & Sunday (7/23 & 24)…HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! I meant to make a cake on Saturday….but I have been fighting absolutely exhaustion for days. I’m sure part of it is my broken sleep overnight (and unfortunately, the doctor indicated that I am probably still 3 – 4 weeks away from a decent night’s sleep), but I’m not sure where the rest of it is coming from. I am currently taking 14 pills per day (including 3 different antibiotics) to try to eliminate the bacteria in my stomach (H Pylori, which causes ulcers and has stopped me from being able to absorb any iron)…maybe that is sapping my energy….maybe I am once again very anemic…..I don’t know, but I do know I’m getting pretty tired of it (pardon the pun!) I feel like sleeping all day long….although I don’t really fall asleep! I also have a metallic taste in my mouth all of the time…and my mouth is very dry. I’m really hoping that resolves itself after I take the last of these pills this coming Thursday.
My friend Anne was kind enough to pick me up on Sunday and take me to Matthews for a wake for another friend, who passed way too quickly. But other than that….I’ve been sitting in my chair in the living room…trying to stay awake while reading. I’m going to try to get back into more regular posting….but it’s gonna be REALLY boring unless I get some energy to do things!
*** I'm super lazy today....it's like normal lazy except I'm wearing a cape! ***
*** Don't expect me to stop if you're broken down by the side of the road. After all...you were offered an extended car warranty several times.... ***
*** I would call my fashion style ''clothes that still fit''. ***
Happy belated birthday 🎉
Rick got negative test results last Thursday and this morning we got the new surgery date, August 24th. You will be skipping down the street by that time
I like what jrgn47 said, makes sense!
I was always tired after my knee surgery. I couldn't stay awake. My PT told me that your body is using a lot of energy to try to get rid of the foreign object(knee) It will take some time but it will accept it sooner or later. That made me feel much better about being so tired all the time. But now I am still tired and can fall asleep at the drop of a pin. Don't know what that is all about. Crediting that to old age.
