It was a glorious morning when we got up on Thursday (8/22)….it was 61 degrees outside!!! My honey packed up my car for quilting after I got my cigars filled to take in for a treat:
(Of course I neglected to take a finished pic of the plate....and forgot again on Friday morning when I took a plate over to my neighbors!!!)
Michael took Freya for a walk, then packed up the Mustang and headed for Boone for his 6 day golfing trip. Everyone seemed to enjoy my cigars, even though my filling almost all seeped out :~(, something I need to work on!
We had great show and tell:
-look at that beautiful grid quilting, done on her domestic machine. We're hoping for her to do a class next year
-Sue, demo-ing a new technique, courtesy of Floy's instructions
-June is up to dying fabric again....on the left with iron water....and on the right...lefovers from her elderberry jam
I headed home after stops at the library and CVS. BG told me I couldn’t eat ice cream for dinner the entire time Michael was gone (she knows me so well!!), so I also stopped at ALDI’s on the way home and bought 5 main dish salads…and a quart of yoghurt…that should take care of my food needs for the week!
I spent time on the lanair when I got home as it was still not that hot, but finally made it to my studio. You may have noticed that not a lot of long armming has been going on this week. When I originally got my first long arm….I set a goal for myself of quilting 1 quilt per week. I thought that was a reasonable amount to get done, and still be able to do everything else I wanted to. Well, as of last weekend, I have done 53 quilts already this year! Talk about burnout! So, even though I did intake on a new quilt last Monday…and even though I still have 7 other quilts on my list of people waiting for me….I decided to take a bit of a break to get my mojo back. At this point I feel happy and rested, and hope to load up the new quilt on Saturday. I spent the rest of the day and evening cutting and sewing on my 4 patches:

I spent Friday morning (8/23) out on the lanair….listening to the birds, enjoying the hundred shades of green and just relaxing with my tea….it was heavenly. After that, I felt refreshed enough to make a start on our linen closet:
-as I start to take everything out, the top of Freya's crate is a convenient place to stage everything!
What a disaster….and where oh where did all of these pillowcases come from!?!?? And with all of these extra pillow cases….why am I always one short of the sets of sheets?!?!? I couldn't finish it all in one day, as I want to re-wash everything we will be donating....so I started with the several loads of laundry I will be doing.
I spent the afternoon sewing, cutting and sewing more black/white 4 patches…and starting to cut the colors for my new Beds=Dreams quilt:
and the evening knitting.
BG and Steven have been RV-ing on Prince Edward Island with friends, but this pic was taken in Nova Scotia on the way home:

My honey shared a few pics from his golfing vacation:
-breakfast is included as part of his hotel fees:
-and they have a lovely outdoor patio as one of the choices for where to eat dinner
-the first golf course he played

Another morning spent on the lanair on Saturday (8/24) as temps are still fabulous….61 degrees when I got up! It is so very lovely to sit out there, communing with nature…sipping my tea…watching my furry kitties and Freya and thinking about pretty much nothing:

I got to my studio….ready to face XENA again….I haven’t done anything since Monday, and I feel very refreshed….guess I need to do that once in awhile when the quilts build up! I got the backing loaded for a king sized quilt….but then I stopped. Before I load the batting and top, I have to drag out the vacuum and do all of the floor around the longarm, and I just didn’t feel like it!
Pat stopped by in the afternoon for a visit and to drop off her project box for the Fiber Floozie retreat…..I will be visiting Janice over next weekend and she will bring all of our project boxes and my machine in her car to retreat. I spent a lot of time (without much success) on the internet, trying to find a free pattern for these baby booties I am obsessed with. There are pictures and posts everywhere, but the directions are sadly lacking everywhere. I’ve been working on cleaning out a bit of my knitting stuff at night:
and I’ve now found some baby weight yarn that I need to re-wind and I’ll be ready to go…but I’m still lacking a pattern :~(.
And 10 years ago:
*** I did this just the other day…. ’’PROCRASTI-BAKING:verb: when you have a million things to do, but ignore everything and bake! ***
*** I’ve reached the age where I appreciate a nice handrail. ***
Great blog. Can’t wait to see the closet! Love the trips down memory lane!
When Rick started doing the laundry, he began putting the pillowcases in between the folds of the flat sheet, works really well, you don’t have a pile of pillowcases floating around your linen closet and you always have the matching pillowcases when you pull the set of sheets out.
