I have a friend who questions my reluctance to remain friends with people who are still supporting tRUMP. I agree with what others have said, it is no longer a difference of opinion, it is a difference of morals and values:
He uses the office of the President to retaliate against his perceived enemies.
He makes fun of disabled people.
He makes fun of veterans and POW’s, calling them ‘’losers’’.
He can’t possibly be keeping up with the business of the country, because he spends WAY too much time watching TV and criticizing anyone who doesn’t praise him.
He ignores the rules of law in the country and is allowing armed, masked gunmen to roam our street and to snatch American citizens off of the street, without warrants, without due process, without a hearing, and throw them into a cell.
He is a pathological liar.
He hires people to help run the country who have no history to do so….they are ‘’friend’’ appointees.
He has bragged, on tape, about sexually assaulting women.
He incited the January 6th riot, did nothing to quell the insurrection, and then pardoned all of the participants.
And, of course, I could add many, many more....but if you are still supporting him, you are showing me that these are things you value and support, and I do not want that kind of negativity in my life.

Thursday morning (8/28) I had minor surgery on my right toe:

and then headed off to quilting. Everyone was surprised to see me there, but I told them I was still numbed up and didn’t feel a thing :~)…..it was lots of fun. I didn’t take my machine, and I ended up doing 2 quick demos. One of the members was supposed to buy flannel for her backing on a king sized quilt…and I told her I would show her how to wash and dry it without getting it all twisted and wrinkly. I thought maybe others might want to see it, so made an announcement before I headed to the front of the room and her fabric….I started the demo…and turned around….and EVERY SINGLE PERSON was up there watching!!! Guess everyone has to wash LARGE pieces of fabric from time to time....and getting those wrinkles out when it comes out of the dryer is a nightmare! After that we talked about how to piece 2 pieces of 44 inch wide fabric for a backing. I got to help a couple of my chandelier class students, and then we had show and tell:
-we had a special session and people brought in the first quilts they ever made....if they didn't have those, they brought in something close to the beginning of their quilting journey.....it was great to hear all of the stories about how people got started.

-Sandy was 8 years old when she made this one.....it went through a LOT of children before it eventually made its way back to her for her own last child

I left around lunchtime and spent the rest of the day (following doctor's orders) with my foot propped up on a stool, reading my library book.

The jewelers called after dinner on Thursday, so Friday morning (8/29), Michael, Iris and I converged on them to look at what I thought were going to be drawings of my ring. Well….it was software and it was incredible! I could see it in white gold or yellow gold (we’re sticking with yellow) and he could turn it into any orientation I wanted. He made a few changes, and the next step is using a 3-D printer to make a wax ring that they can set the stones in to let me see the actual thing before finally building the real ring. I’m hoping to see the wax rendering next week!!!! Who knew this was such a process!!
After that, Michael headed off to his lunch with the guys, while Iris and I stopped for Thai food once again. I got a bit of sewing done in the afternoon and the inside of my new chandelier is all together:

I just need to decide what size I want it to be and then cut and sew the borders and write up the pattern.
Michael and I ate leftovers for dinner and played cribbage before heading to bed after 10.

Michael left before 6 AM for golf on Saturday (8/30) while I headed to the studio with a list of things I wanted to get done. First up was cutting and sewing borders on the chandlelier:

I have several more multi-color batiks in my stash and I can't wait to make this quilt pattern again!!
Next up was making and applying binding to my recent QoV…..I only got it on one side:

before stopping for dinner.
Michael is going on a golfing retreat next week….so of course we needed a date night of champagne (with frozen strawberries) and puffy things:

while watching THE THURSDAY MUDER CLUB (the book is EXCELLENT) on NETFLIX.
And 10 years ago....
-Food and Fiber Floozie: canna lily, rows for new Clinton School quilt, dino embroidery, bread, pizza
*** (and for you my honey) Two silk worms had a race.....they ended up in a tie. ***
*** Some people drink deeply from the well of knowledge....others just rinse and spit. ***
*** I once dated a girl who was a twin and people were constantly asking me if I could tell them apart. It was easy, Susan always painted her nails red...and Bob had a beard. ***
PS. LOVED THE PUNS!
Great quilts as usual and a great toe also!
All of the Show and Tell quilts were great, but I especially loved the appliqued one with the 9 different flowers. I think your new chandelier quilt is stunning! I love the colors. Take it easy with your toe.
Your ring will be wonderful. My daughter lost her engagement ring and I gave her my Mother's engagement ring. They did the same thing as yours because the stone was so old and was cut in a different way. They used yellow gold in place of white to match her wedding ring. Her new ring is gorgeous!
Ok, so you left us hanging, how do you not get your washed piece of fabric not so wrinkled and knotted up, and what’s your special way of piecing backing together? Not all those quilts in show and tell we’re first project, they all looked pretty good, my first project was not so good.
I was so thrilled when you mentioned Thursday Murder Club on Netflix, I have loved the novels, can’t wait to watch.
