SHQ Show & Tell, Sally, Laura & Dave, Carol & Ed

3/23 - Donald Trump rejected a deal that would have immediately reopened the Department of Homeland Security and ended the chaos at U.S. airports.

According to reporting from Punchbowl News, Senate Republicans—led by John Thune—approached Trump with a plan to fund all of DHS except ICE. The proposal would have restored funding, ensured TSA agents got paid, and brought stability back to airports across the country.

Democrats were prepared to accept the deal. Trump said no.

Instead, Trump is demanding Republicans stay in Washington and continue the fight over his immigration agenda and the SAVE America Act. He even warned he would publicly attack GOP senators if they leave for recess.

So let’s be clear about what this means:

There was a deal on the table to reopen DHS and fix the airport chaos—and Trump personally blocked it.

TSA agents are still not being paid. Travelers are still stuck dealing with delays and uncertainty. And the shutdown is now in its 37th day.

This didn’t have to happen.

Donald Trump chose this.

OK...I gotta tell ya, I was really disappointed in the lack of comments on my last post...I thought my pizza looked AWESOME...and not one comment :~(.

Michael headed out on errands Wednesday morning (3/18) while I video chatted with Janice.  Wanna know the best thing about the video chat?  I showed Janice my new pattern and new revised block:

and she liked it so much that she is going to start cutting some too!!!!  She thought the pattern would work well as a scrap quilt.

After we were done chatting, I headed out myself for a hair appointment.  When I got home, I spent OVER AN HOUR using email/txt/phone to try to cancel something on my credit card for which I was overcharged!  I tried to order 2 magazines…..got charged for 3….and they only show an order for 1?!?!?!?!  Why is nothing ever easy?!?!!?

I did manage to get the inner border on my ''cork'' quilt:

I know a lot of you out there have played bobbin chicken, but have you ever played border chicken? This is what I had leftover out of the strips I cut:

Yep, LESS than an inch!!!!

I finally ended up in the living room, having a relaxing chat with my honey when my phone dinged…..OMG!!!!  We were supposed to be having dinner with Sally (the ding was my 10 minutes before reminder) and both of us had totally forgotten!!!  I called to say I HAD to take a shower and would txt her when we were leaving the house…and I believe we ended up being only 2 minutes late (fastest shower in the west…luckily, I didn’t have to wash my hair!!!

We all ended up having the shrimp and crab enchiladas and they were delightful.  I think we were home by 7:30 to feed our animals and settle on the sofa for a bit of TV watching…

Michael is still feeling tired after his surgery, so it was another early evening.

Thursday (3/19) was quilting and I got to start a new project (since my ''cork'' quilt top is together)…I’ll be working on another QoV until it is finished.  The only problem is that I thought I had cut everything I needed, but somehow I needed 18 red strips…and I only cut 8….so I’m praying I still have some of that fabric as I want all of the red in my strips sets to match.

We had lovely show and tell:

and Laura & Dave are continuing their long arm journey:

BUT the surprise stars of the show were Janet & Floy:

who have teamed up to make children’s quilts…and make them they have…..ALL of the following quilts were made by Floy & Janet (with quilting assistance from other long armers in the group):

I worked Friday morning (3/20) to get borders on my ‘’cork’’ quilt top, and since I’m giving this to a friend, I asked what she wanted for the outer border, and I got that cut, pieced and applied:

Then I got ALL of the pieces cut for the new quilt I revised…..for now I have them all laid out as a leaders and enders project:

Michael and I had an early dinner of pierogis, and our company arrived at 7 PM:

-Laura & Dave

-Carol & Ed

We had the table all set up and played Tripoli for the rest of the evening….

stopping only for a bite of dessert around 8 PM.  This is the second time our guests had played and it showed in the (mostly) quickness of play!  I think we decided that Carol was the big winner for the evening.

And a little ''quilting eye candy'' from Janice....I'm not sure I ever posted this picture of her quilt top from the revised BQ pattern (another scrappy success story):

And 10 years ago....

ME: Thanks, you look better without my glasses too! ***
