SHQ Veteran's Luncheon, Totally finished quilt - Sally

What a loser....nod off Don........8647!

Tuesday morning (11/11) I was back early at the long arm, stitching away more rows on the emergency quilt.

Iris came for her first official quilting lesson:

and got all of her strips cut for bindings on her 2 quilts and got most of them sewn together and pressed.  She only got to stay for about 2 hours, but little by little we are getting these quilts done.  I continued to quilt during the day until one of my customers came to pick up her quilts….AND BROUGHT ME ANOTHER ONE!!!  I am not getting ahead here people!

Anyway, by dinnertime, the quilting was done:

ree

and I had a label for the quilt (my second one as my machine tried to eat the first one).

My honey left for the movies and I relaxed and knit on his sweater for the rest of the evening..

I headed to the studio early on Wednesday (11/12) to try to get a jump on the next quilt.  I am not looking forward to this quilt at all….as the backing was no where near big enough for me to use.  I asked my customer to sew strips of fabric on all 4 sides to make it bigger…but the dimensions of the ''real'' fabric backing are so close to the top that I am going to be tense the entire way through quilting this quilt.  As I was pinning the backing on…I started to think about it and I believe this same thing happened the last time this person brought me a quilt.  I only get a quilt from them every year or so, so I didn’t immediately remember it.  Anyway, I have decided that if it happens again, I will suggest another long armmer to this person as I do not need the added stress that doing this quilt will bring.

I only got the back loaded before it was time to video chat with Janice.  We talked a bit longer than usual…and after that I had some breakfast, and finally got back to loading the quilt around 11:30.

I was determined to get the quilting:

finished by dinnertime…and I did:

And I also got the binding put on 1 side of the quilt which will be sent to sister and brother in law:

I absolutely love this day as we all get there early….get all set up…then have a chance to sit around and talk :~).

We gave out 4 quilts today:

I ended up napping in the living room for a bit before heading once again to the studio….I got the binding all done on Sally's quilt for yet another TOTALLY FINISHED QUILT:

It will be in the mail tomorrow.

You’re right, it was exhausting, but one of the most worthwhile things we do. It was all so meaningful to me.

Sally’s quilt is beautiful. Glad the luncheon was a success. Next year I’ll be there.

Very successful luncheon! I too was beat. Had to lay down for a bit and wasn't much use the rest of the day 🤣
