Michael left for golf here at SCCL on Saturday (5/14), while I putzed around and read for a bit in the morning before heading to the studio. I set up the program and kicked off quilting on the 3rd men’s quilt:
I know....it's very hard to see because the quilt is so dark:
Because I’ve already quilted 2 quilts on this backing, the roll on my take up bar is getting very thick:
which cuts down the space I have to quilt in, so I knew I had to pick a not-very-tall pattern for the last quilt :~).
While that was going on, I told myself I really needed to get started on backing for the 3 chandelier quilts, but apparently I wasn’t stern enough with myself….because this is what happened during the rest of the day:
When Michael came home, he laid out the rest of it for me:
He stopped because of course I hadn't correctly calculated how many squares I needed. I quilckly made more, and then had to change the columns and rows at the end:
I LOVE it!!!!! I got these blues from Corinne awhile ago...and thought I knew what I was going to do with them....but when I saw a picture of this quilt...I KNEW this was what I wanted to do. Luckily, I have lots more of the blues, so those will make my next set of ''men's quilts''.
Michael had the rest of his crab for dinner, while I had some cut up ham and cheddar cheese and tomatoes, and we settled in for date night. He made popcorn, and it didn’t even tempt me a tiny bit, since I had received THRILLING news during the day.
When I saw my PCP (primary care physician) in January, my A1C was 8.0 (which is not a good number). I started this new diabetic program and I’ve been meeting with my diabetes coach, and following the program for only 8 weeks now (A1C is a measure of your blood sugar over the past 3 months), and the results of my Friday blood work came through….A1C = 6.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t worry if you don’t understand what I’m talking about….I have a diabetic friend that I shared the news with and they were thrilled along with me!!! Hopefully it will drop a bit more when I am on the plan for the entire period that the test covers, but trust me…I am VERY happy.
Anyway, back to date night…..we watched ANYTHING GOES….a Great Performance from PBS that we taped a couple of nights ago…it was excellent! I don’t think I’ve ever seen it…..music and lyrics by Cole Porter….many, many great songs that we know and love.

Meanwhile, I’ve been ‘’getting ready to vacuum’’ for a week now. ***
Deb, that A1C number is fantastic! Woo Hoo! Keep up the great work, I know how hard it is to reach an A1C that low in just this short period of time. Debbie D
