Sunday - Monday - Tuesday

Getting my own stuff done around this house….as well as getting done most of the stuff Michael does around the house (and it is a TON…believe me!!) I am barely getting any time for sewing. We paused for some waffles Sunday morning (1/14):

and I was finally in the studio at 1 PM and decided I just need to stitch and rip and stitch and rip and stitch and rip until this !@#$% quilt is done!!! I have a second one to do on this same backing…and I really think the backing is a major contributor to the problem, and then hopefully I can go back to a customer quilt with NO issues!!!

OK….3-1/2 hours later I only got through half of one row (with 15 thread breaks)…and the last time my thread snapped, it got caught up on the inside of the machine :~(. I started to take my machine apart (something I have never done before), then decided that I didn’t want to electrocute myself, so even though it will be impossible to get it back to exactly the right place….I shut everything down and opened up the front of my machine:

After working on it a bit, I got all of the caught thread out and put the front back on the machine. I’ve decided I’m unpinning the current project and loading up my customer quilt. I am PRAYING (and would appreciate everyone else’s prayers) that the thread break problem does not continue….I need some good news for a change!

Monday morning (1/15) was great as one of my knitting students stopped by for over an hour. She had started her sweater in advance of next week’s class….unfortunately she didn’t do any of the THREE things I want my students to do right at the beginning of ANY sweater :~(. She was more than willing to rip out what she had done, but wanted to really get started and was willing to come to the house. She is a hoot and we had a really wonderful morning….with those words that are music to my ears…’’thanks so much…..I LEARNED SO MANY THINGS!!!’’

Monday afternoon was Machine Embroidery….with lots of truly beautiful show & tell:

Tuesday morning (1/16) I had a teleconference with a doctor, and then finally got my quilts unpinned from XENA, while Michael was out at PT for his knee. He almost took my car as it is raining…and he didn’t want to get his ‘’baby’’ wet….but in the end, he took the mustang. He also got to take it out on Monday as well when he went tooling around with another friend.

I spent Tuesday afternoon at Fiber Nutz….it was a wonderful gathering as Melanie had a bunch of stations set up for card making, and it was a thoroughly delightful afternoon. Mary Jo, I wish you could have been there….you would have loved it and come up with a spectacular card I am sure:

-she used an old hankerchief on this card....it had some holes...so she cut around them for the green background on the card, then detached and re-added the tatting for the bottom front.

Michael and I had crab sandwiches from the crab truck (missed you Connie), then he wanted to watch THE CAINE MUTINY, so I settled him in with some popcorn and I headed back to the studio. I needed to feel some success with something, so I spent the evening sewing. Remember the quilt for the receptionist at PT? Well, there are 2 receptionists, and last time I was there the other guy asked if he could take a picture of my purse, since his girlfriend and her sister are both nuts about cats….I knew I had some of that fabric left over, so I made 2 glasses cases:

I’m sure everyone wears sunglasses…right? And, I’ve been wanting to make one for myself since last summer….so I made a third out of the 25 year old fabric that I made a quilt out of for myself a year ago....fabric from Paducah! I saw a woman working with that same fabric a few months after I made the quilt....and she graciously offered me her scraps:

Where is my honey's card?

I would have LOVED to have gone to the card-making class. Was just thinking yesterday, that I should get rid of my supplies, since I haven't touched them in forever. ;(

Beautiful eyeglass cases !

All of the cards are really fabulous, but the one with the lilacs and the little fairy, and the one with the turquoise bird eggs are stunning! Your glass cases are beautiful! Beautiful!!
