I forgot to mention yesterday that I totally screwed up my sewing at quilting!!! I didn’t have the pattern with me, as I thought I had a lot more stratas to make….well, I finished the stratas and got all of my squares cut before lunch, then tried to figure out how to sew them together. I started to sew one, realized it was wrong…and ripped it out. Finally my brain woke up a little and I remembered what I was supposed to do, but after a phone conversation with BG, I realized I missed one critical part of the sewing/cutting…and so I ruined 2 of my blocks :~(. What a MAROON!!!! Oh well, I think I need to be grateful that I don’t do that kind of thing too often…and carry on :~).
I made myself do grown-up things Friday morning (1/13), this time meaning I got my blog out and got the quilting minutes out before pulling out Sandy’s first quilt to load on XENA…I got the back loaded and binding made for the men’s quilt:
before leaving to pick up Susan and head out to lunch. We went to the Thai place:
and Susan had tofu and green beans:
while I had the red curry chicken:
YUMM-O!!! We sat there for a long time talking, as we have lots to talk about! Susan's daughter has an opportunity to have dual citizenship with Denmark, but she must live there for 3 consecutive months before she is 22...and her birthday is in July. Susan and Jessica are planning to leave mid-February...and they have a million and one things to get done before then. Susan will be writing a blog while she is there, and she wanted some kind of cute name for it. When we were at the Lake House for Distaff Day, we tossed somethings back and forth, and finally came up with TWO DAMES MEETING DANES...I LOVE it!!!
I was finally home after 2 PM and sat and watched an old TWILIGHT ZONE with my honey before we both headed downstairs…him to his emails and me back to Sandy’s quilt:
Of course, since both of us were downstairs....everyone else was too:
-Cookie
-Ethel
-Lucy
I got the quilt all loaded, and the program set up and then my honey helped me a bit with my One Block Wonder quilt (which will be abbreviated OBW from now on!) Now that I’ve finished the men’s quilt, I told myself that before starting another quilt, I need to work on the layout for my OBW. I got out graph paper and started to draw it…and couldn’t figure out how I could figure out the sizes. Michael said I was tired and my brain was fried and I should give it a rest until Saturday….and he was right!
We headed upstairs and as I was still full from lunch, I just had popcorn for date night. We watched a documentary on Patrick Swayze earlier in the week, so of course we had to watch DIRTY DANCING…it was terrific.
PS – even Michael couldn’t believe the difference that border made on yesterday’s quilt.
*** Did you know the word incorrectly is spelled incorrectly in every English dictionary? ***
I like Sandy’s quilt
Was that sort of a pun? Meaning it is spelled “i n c o r r e c t l y” , not that it is spelled wrong.
