Totally finished quilt - 1st king sized, Elton DAN!, new emergency quilt started

What a loser....nod off Don........8647!

*******************************

Michael was up and out early on Friday (11/7), heading to the Ford dealership to get some recall work done on his car.  They gave him a loaner as the work was going to take several hours and he went out to breakfast, then some shopping for shirts at Target, CVS (bill was $90, and came down to $45!!), the movies (Nuremburg).  He finally got home around 4 PM.

I loaded up my customer’s cowboy quilt:

and set up a program and kicked it off:

Then it was time to make a label,  stitch it down and start to apply binding to my 1st king sized quilt:

ree

I finished up getting the binding on one side of the quilt before dinner.

We headed to the Fort Mill playhouse for VONYA AND SONYA AND MARSHA AND SPIKE.  Laura and her friend were there as well and we all thought it was a great show!  Michael and I read for a bit once we got home before collapsing into bed.

Michael left early for golf on Saturday (11/8) and I wanted to dive back into my binding, but I still had a second quilt from my new quilt customer, and I picked up another quilt at quilting on Thursday, and Marvella came over to drop off 2 more quilts…..so slaving over a hot long arm was the order of the day!  I spent time in the morning finishing the cowboy quilt, before getting a Kaffe inspired quilt loaded:

and quilting:

Once that was underway, I started to slowly work on the second side of my binding:

ree

I was totally shocked when just before dinner, I turned the last corner of binding…..giving me a TOTALLY FINISHED QUILT:

ree

I really didn’t expect to finish it until Sunday….but I guess perseverance paid off :~).

Michael and I had crab sliders and fruit for dinner and watched/slept through a bunch of TV in the evening.

*******************************

I spent Sunday morning (11/9) finishing up my book: THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO….recommended by my retreat buddies.  They were right….it was EXCELLENT!

Finally in the early afternoon, I headed back downstairs to continue quilting on Kaffee.  I had to watch some of it closely as the center was kind of ‘’poofy’’, but for the last row, my attention wasn’t needed, so I hit my spinny wheel again, and it came up:

ree

This was a perfect pic as I had a pile of stuff to get cleaned up.  I spent a bit of time on that; watched a bit of the quilting at a tricky spot, and was finished by the time Michael and I left for the ELTON JOHN Tribute Band….ELTON DAN!

We had wonderful seats and a wonderful time, and I have to tell you how once again, Susie’s toffee scored.  Generally, at these kinds of things you take food to share with others at your table, and I decided to do a run of Susie’s toffee.

There was an elderly couple at our table, and after the wife had some….she came to me practically with tears in her eyes saying ‘’oh my goodness, my aunt used to make this and my husband just loved it and he hasn’t had it in so long and it brought back SO MANY MEMORIES!!!  Thank you for bringing it, would you consider sharing the recipe?''

I checked with Susie, and of course, gracious person that she is, she said certainly!  So, I will be looking up the woman’s email and sending it off this week. In the meantime, I put the lid on the box and sent the leftover toffee home with her after the concert.

When we got home, Michael watched the second half of the UCONN game, while I read my library book before bed.

**************************************

Monday morning (11/10) I headed to the library for their crafter’s session….I met a new woman, Karen, and Iris found someone who is available to help her with her crochet.

I hit Springs Insurance and Harris Teeter afterwards and was home by NOON.  Judy swung by to pick up some fleece, after which I started work on an emergency quilt :~(.

When I got home, Michael had left me a note indicating that his brother-in-law’s sister has been diagnosed with cancer and isn’t doing well.  We've met Sally a number of times over the years and she is a sweet and wonderful person. They asked if I could send any kind of comfort quilt...maybe in the colors of purple & teal.  Now, teal and purple are certainly my favorite colors, but I don't generally work in them, so I ran downstairs, praying all the way that I had something in my tops closet….and luckily when I sent this picture (made out of leftovers from a small quilt on our bedroom fainting couch):

ree

they thought it was good.  So, I got a soft fleece backing and batting cut, and got everything loaded up:

ree

and kicked off the quilting:

My honey came home from lunch out with the guys and we immediately packed up Lynn’s quilt and he headed for the post office and the grocery store.

I continued to quilt and got halfway done before collapsing before Chinese for dinner.  I am feeling a bit stressed with a sudden glut of customer quilts (getting another one tomorrow!)…and a busy week otherwise…but am hoping to get all caught up over the weekend.
