Even though we supposedly live in a free country, with freedom of speech, according to Republican sources, you are only allowed to use that free speech (without consequences) if you are saying nice things about the current administration.

I headed to the studio Saturday morning (2/7), anxious to get a customer quilt loaded up:

I got that basted and kicked off the quilting and got my last quilt trimmed before we headed into Charlotte. We had tickets to a play that got cancelled due to one of the storms, and they rescheduled for today…..so we got to see OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS:

which was wonderful! We got to talking to the people sitting in front of us and I hope we get to see them again as they were delightful.
We were home just before 6 PM, and Michael settled in to watch a UCONN basketball game, while I got one more pass done on Linda’s quilt:

before joining him for THE TWO TOWERS. We only made it through half of the movie before we were both ready for bed.

We slept late on Sunday (2/8) but I finally made it to the studio and finished quilting on Linda’s quilt in the afternoon. While was happening, I worked on binding another quilt:

and by dinnertime, I had another totally finished quilt:

We had soup for dinner and watched the second half of THE TWO TOWERS in the evening.

I headed out Monday morning (2/9) for the library’s craft group…where some of the time was spent like this:

Ashley brought in lots of yarn and fabric to ask if I had place to donate it…and I said yes. So, at the end of the meeting, she carried it all out to my car. (I ended up taking it into quilting on Thursday....and the fabric was wonderful and there were lots of gorgeous kits as well!!!)
After that I headed to the lodge to donate blood. So, they check my iron and it is 6.9…I ask what it should be and the answer was ‘’over 12’’. I had quite a shock at that answer and wondered how long I’d be able to walk before I collapsed. Then the young gal asked if I wanted some hand warmers…and I said no, I am just going out to my car and then home. Then she asked if I still wanted to donate. So I said how can I donate when my iron is that low. She finally explained that it was probably because my hands were so cold (they now check your iron by putting a tiny blood pressure type thing on your thumb), hence her asking if I wanted hand warmers. So, I held 2 tiny hand warmers around my thumb for 5 -7 minutes, and she took it again, and this time it was 13.2!!!! So, I got to donate after all.
After that I took a trip to Pat’s house. You remember how I finally found my One Block Wonder (OBW) fabric a couple of weeks ago…so I now want to embroider the flowers that are on that piece of fabric. Pat has a MUCH better selection of embroidery thread than I do….so she gave me 12 spools to get my first 3 flowers done. As I was leaving, I mentioned the baking class I was taking on Tuesday for pound cakes….and Pat is now taking it with me! Turns out we are still both looking for the texture of a Sara Lee pound cake…..we can both flavor them however we want…it’s the texture we haven’t been able to recreate…..cross your fingers.
By 4 PM I was finally in the studio to work on a birthday card for my honey:

and to load up Sara’s quilt (I loved this when she showed it at SHQ and am excited to get to quilt it!):

And this went in the mail to the kids:

My honey made that wonderful V-day card!
My honey made tortellinis for dinner, and cut up broccoli crowns for a new veggie recipe…I tossed the broccoli with 2 – 3 tablespoons of olive oil, then 2 tablespoons of dry ranch dressing. Roasted at 425 degrees for 15 minutes….YUM! I could hardly stop eating it off of the cookie sheet!
And check out this absolutely incredible embroidered quilt Pat just finished....over 1-1/2 MILLION embroidery stitches!!!

And 10 years ago.....

Holy cow! 6.9 ! That’s when I have to go to the hospital for my blood transfusion! Glad it came up so quickly.
Can you explain further how you’re going to embroider your flowers from your OBW
Falling asleep in one minute! That,s rare these days! What a beautiful card for your honey. And a million and a half stitches !?????
