9 out of the 10 poorest states in America are run by Republicans....95 out of the 100 poorest counties in America are in states run by Republicans.....
Please tell me again how great Republican economic policies are for the United States?
DC is not a hell hole, Ukraine didn't start the war, tariffs are taxes, 14 year olds are not adults, immigrants are not responsible for the ills of the country and tRUMP is neither a competent nor coherent president!

Michael and I both spent Friday morning (8/15) trying to get caught up on our emails, before he left for the upholstery place and CVS and the library and ALDI, and Iris picked me up for our lunch at the Thai place!!! I haven’t been in FOREVER and was totally excited to go, and excited that she was able to go with me! But first, we stopped into Ballentyne Jewelers. About 1-1/2 weeks before we left on our road trip in July, I accidently hit my hand on a cutting board in the kitchen and the diamond was knocked out of my engagement ring. It’s been waiting all of this time to get fixed, and today was the day.
Unfortunately, I got some not-so-great news at the jewelers….this happened once before….maybe 10 – 15 years ago, and the jeweler who fixed it used a prong setting for a round diamond….while I have an oval diamond! The jeweler said I was very lucky I didn’t lose it much earlier. Also, there were some cracks in the gold band part and basically….he has to rebuild the entire ring and that will take several weeks :~(. Oh well….I’ll love it that much more when I get it back….right?
He also talked to me about changing the orientation of the rubies…..I wasn’t sure about that, but he’s going to draw up some renderings of them in the original configuration and the new configuration and after looking at them, I’ll decide. The good news is….each time I have to go back….Iris and I will go to lunch at the Thai place!!!!!!

Anyway, we ended up having about a 4 hour lunch and it was delightful. On the way back….we rounded a bend in the road and saw this:

At first, I thought it was a medical helicopter, but it turns out it was just delivering stuff to the roof of the new COSTCO.
Michael and I just sat in the living room and talked for a bit when I got home, before settling in to read our books. We had puffy things for dinner….and watched the last 2 episodes of RESIDENT ALIEN…..what a great show…and what a lovely ending!

Michael was out of the house by 8 AM for golf on Saturday (8/16), while I balanced the checkbook and then hit the studio. I’ve been working little by little on the binding for another Beds=Dreams quilt, and it was finally done by early afternoon….for another TOTALLY FINISHED QUILT (can you tell I just love those words?):

And here's the craziest ending to the diamond story....Mario (Iris's hubby) surprised her with a new diamond to celebrate 15 years of marriage.....isn't that wild!??!?!

And it's OVAL....just like mine!!!!!

Michael took Freya for a walk Sunday morning (8/17) as it was marginally not as hot as it has been, while I was ready to load up one of my QoV’s:

I got that all set and kicked off the quilting, and spent the rest of the day working on my:

Remember I started it a long time ago? The big reveal will happen soon…I promise!
I checked out the freezer for dinner, and found a bag of shrimp I think we got from Kay & Pete, and so made shrimp scampi, which I haven't made in FOREVER....so Michael was in heaven!!!

Monday morning (8/18) was spent quilting on the QoV:

hoping desperately to get it done before leaving for my meeting….but I did not!
Something fabulous DID however happen. So….you know my honey makes me breakfast quite frequently and when he brings it down to me (Yes, he delivers it too!!), the plate is warm and I never want to put that right on my cutting mat. So, I have an old quilted sewing machine cover that I drag out and unfold to put under the plate…and he always makes fun of my ratty old ‘’placemat’’:

Well….today….he STAGGERED back as I pulled out this:

My personal breakfast placemat….and my secret project!!!! Isn’t it gorgeous?!?!!? I did one layer of ISUL-BRITE and 1 layer of batting, which is what I use in all of my pot holders, so I know the heat will not penetrate that!

At NOON I left to hit monthly recycling at the Lodge, and after a quick trip to HOBBY LOBBY for yarn for idiot knitting (the Clinton story from 10 years ago got me going again!), and I believe God placed me there at the exact moment I was needed. I was slowly going down the first aisle of yarn and a woman was looking at needles for sewing together sweaters and such. She asked if I knew anything about knitting, and when I said yes, proceeded to tell me that she had a quilt she wanted to tie together, and was looking for the right needle. And she was holding a skein of bulky weight yarn in her hand (you know…the strands were thicker than a #2 pencil!!) we had a long talk and I told her she was looking at the wrong needles as they all had dull points, and her yarn was WAY too thick! I found the perfect crochet cotton for her and sent her off to the sewing/upholstery needles….she seemed very grateful. I cannot imagine her trying to pull that bulky weight yarn through a teeny tiny needle hole!
Anyway, I arrived at the Machine Embroidery meeting on time to greet a lovely group of women with a fabulous amount of show and tell:

I was back home again by 3 PM (I saw my honey leaving for a routine pacemaker appointment on my way home), and fired up XENA once again.
By the time Michael came home with Chinese for dinner, I still wasn’t done, so I headed back downstairs after dinner and was finally finished around 8 PM.

And 10 years ago....

*** Stop saying ''they didn't teach us that in school.'' Yes, they did...you were talking. ***
