My honey had some blood work on Tuesday morning (8/13), then swung by the EXXON food truck to pick up breakfast sandwiches….YUM….they were still just excellent! I headed to the studio after that to bag up my 2 wheelchair quilts and get a new customer quilt loaded up:
I didn't go any further than loading....I think I"m getting just a bit burned out with long armming.....so I've slowed down a bit. Instead I went back to baking! I’ve been wanting to find a good butter cookie recipe…..I finally made some today:
The texture was excellent and the flavor was divine…but they spread :~(…and believe me, they were definitely well chilled. I’m going to try the same recipe, but cut them smaller than suggested and maybe freeze before baking…hoping they’ll cook before they have a chance to spread…they are too good not to try a few more things before abandoning the recipe.
(On Thursday I talked to Susie about the problem...and on her recipe she has a separate note that says ''no silpat''! That makes sense to me....so next time I'll use parchment...or grease my pan...but will NOT use my silpats!)
BG had mentioned that she hadn't seen anything on Teal Splendor for awhile....and she was right....so I got the pieced border sewn on 2 sides of the quilt:

Wednesday (8/15) was the semi-annual sale day at FOUST:
Four of us took off at 8 AM and had a good time shopping:
-me, Judy, Stacey, Pam S
and then after a quick stop at CAROLINA COTTON, we stopped for Thai food on the way home. My sleep lately has been absolutely horrible….and I took a LONG nap once I got home from FOUST :~).
I was very conservative with my shopping this time….I bought white and black tone-on-tone:
for backgrounds for all of my quilts, then I took fabric from teal splendor and found the perfect fabric for backing:
and bought some stabelizer for embroidery:
and finally some QoV backing:
I really like the pattern on this fabric more than the navy blue with big white stars that I usually get….I don’t really need anymore backing right now…but they often don’t have this blue with smaller stars…so I thought I’d pick some up while it was available.

Thursday (8/15) was all about quilting….we had a class on free motion quilting….that had some very interesting bits:
But most of the time people were just sitting and working at their machines :~):
We had wonderful show and tell:
-Susie's hubby Bob made her the perfect hand quilting tool carrier out of an old yardstick
and when I got home after 2 PM, I read my library book until my honey got home from golf around 3:30 PM. We talked for quite awhile, then both read our books until our dinner of meatloaf (thanks Diane!!) with au gratin potatoes.
And another 10 years ago post…..with the wrong day on it….but it was sometime in August, 2014: https://foodandfiberfloozie.blogspot.com/2014/08/canning-tomato-sauce.html
*** I don’t think housework will kill me…but I have decided not to take the risk! ***
*** The worst thing I do is telling people I’m down for anything….when in reality I mean:
-not after 9 PM
-food should be involved
-also depends on the weather, the parking situation…and how tired I am. ***
Hula dancers???? Foust factory?
I knew you were going to show Foust today, I read My Carolina Home blog this morning and she had pictures of the sale as well, did you run into each other there. You guys must be rather close to each other. So fun to see your smiling face in the pictures❤️
Have you made any tomato sauce recently?
