Veteran's quilt given, a visit to Corinne's

I was up early on Saturday (11/13) because I did not stay up with my honey when he came home from the play on Friday night. I forgot to include this picture yesterday….another one of my quilts has been given to a veteran….this is Don Patterson and he was in the Army in 1965, in time for the Vietnam war. He was VERY grateful to receive the quilt :~):

Janice and I had breakfast and headed over to Corinne’s for fabric. Someone (I can't remember who but I think it might have been Arizona Mary), wanted better pictures of Corinne's space, so I got lots! Janice has decided that she wants to make a quilt for the guest room bed…and in the colors that they have decorated their house….of course I was wildly jealous of everything she picked (she has the turtle pillow in the guest room, so her quilt will be built around that):

And she's doing a pink project....so she brought some of her scraps to get a few more fat quarters:

I went just for Janice’s sake….so of course I ended up buying more fabric than she did :~(. I'll post a picture once I get it all re-folded. I can’t be too sad though….another one of my men’s quilts is going to be going out on Monday or Tuesday….and I scored a beautiful piece of fabric, along with 4 coordinating fabrics that I think will make nice men's quilts….so I am happy about that. Also, I bought 3 pieces of batik that were each 3 yards (normally the pieces are only 1 – 2 yards) to hopefully use as backing for quilts in the future.

Corinne has 2 niches in her living room, and always has monthly quilts displayed, along with a tiny amount of her MASSIVE collection of fiesta ware:

-and she always hangs a seasonal quilt in the kitchen

-look at that border:

-she always has a selection of quilts lining the stairs up to her sewing room, which she changes out regularly:

-a close up of one I absolutely LOVED:

-and a view from the top, looking down:

-Of course this is my favorite place in the room...since it is all batiks!

We were home around 2 PM and spent the rest of the afternoon in the studio. Janice got a LOT of scraps cut:

and I got all of the remaining 4 patches sewn….I just have to press the last set and they will be ready for layout.

We had our restaurant leftovers for dinner before heading out to see my honey on stage. The play was wonderful….the actors are all terrific…and I am so glad he got to be a part of this….he really is an excellent actor!!! We all communed in the living room for a bit when we got home….then Michael and Dennis headed off to bed and Janice and I continued to talk until 1 AM!!!!

****************************************

We had a lazy morning Sunday (11/14), although Michael was up and out by 9 AM for just a bit of golf (he came home after scoring a 41 for 9 holes). He has a matinee today and doesn’t want to be too tired. Janice and I headed to MICHAEL's CRAFTS and managed to score supplies for Michael to make his cast gifts, and some food bags I’ll use for my Christmas goodies, along with a Christmas gift for AJ and some fabric markers that Michael will use on a secret project we’ll be doing together for AJ’s birthday (hopefully!). We had a bite of lunch when we got home, and Cookie wanted some love from our guest:

-just look at that face....

then Janice and Dennis left:

for 3 days of exploring in Asheville and at the Biltmore. I noticed we're still getting a rose or 2.....I hope the frost holds off as there are FIVE buds behind that rose:

Michael left for his matinee, and I collapsed for a nap! I headed to the studio after that and got the last of the 4 patches all pressed, ready for Michael to lay out in a new quilt:

He was home just before 6 PM from the matinee. Loree had given me some late summer tomatoes on Thursday and I certainly didn’t want them to go to waste, so we had pizzas for dinner….I couldn’t find the baguette I like at ALDI’s, so we did them on pitas:

And of course, to celebrate the completion of the second week of performances…there was this:

*** My age doesn’t bother me….it’s the side effects. ***

*** Nutritionist: You should eat 1200 calories a day.

Me: OK, and how many at night? ***
