I was up early Sunday morning (12/14), determined to finish my customer quilt before leaving for the Waxhaw Christmas parade.  I knew the quilt was going to be a bear to finish, and it was…..3 borders, each one larger than the last, causing many, many ripples that had to be managed so as not to get pleats in the top.  BUT, I was so very happy to have it done by the time we left just after NOON.

We met at the Food Lion parking lot in Waxhaw, then moved to our designated parade set up stop for decorating:

We found out we were chauferring the mayor and his wife (!):

It was a lovely time, but we were happy to be home by 4:30 PM.  We both putzed for a bit before settling in to watch LOVE ACTUALLY for our evening Christmas movie.

Michael made a double gas houser Monday morning (12/15) with our very wide sourdough bread:

while I got cat food made, then put together my ham/cheese/poppyseed sliders for our Machine Embroidery Christmas luncheon, before heading to the studio to get my customer quilt off of the frame and bury all of the bobbin ends.

I got that done and headed back upstairs to bake the sliders, then Michael ferried me up to the Lake House with everything I had to take in.  Lunch was lovely:

and we played sewing BINGO and had a fun sewing cognitive test:

before Michael was back to take me home.

It was back to the studio for me to work on binding:

while he headed to the ‘’float place’’ in Fort Mill for a relaxing float!  I got the binding all on the first side before stopping for dinner and TV.

Tuesday morning (12/16) Michael headed out to mail off another package and to pick up bagels on the way home, while I headed to the studio to continue having fun!

I have an empty box on the pool table that is kinda narrow and long and Lucy loves getting in it:

I laugh every time I see her, because to me she looks like a train conductor on one of those small, Christmas trains for children…if I had one of those blue conductors caps, I swear I’d put it on her :~).

I confirmed that I had 108’’ backing for a patriotic quilt, and went through my stash of quilt tops in the closet.  I was THRILLED when I found this one:

ree

as I had been thinking of the center panel just the other day.  I wanted to embroider that design forever, and finally got one made, and made the squares to go around it.  I think this might be one of my favorite quilts!

By the time I got it laid on, it was time to leave for the dentist, to re-seal my crown on my implant.  I was home at 5:30 PM…bringing crab soup from the crab truck which my honey snarfed down before leaving for the movies.

I gave up on trying to pick a color to quilt this QoV in (I wanted something to blend in to that center panel, and don’t really have anything) and headed upstairs to make 3 more runs of Bailey’s to take to the Fiber Nutz party tomorrow and to knit the night away while watching GRANTCHESTER.

I found out at 9 PM that our Fiber Nutz hostess was dropping out, so (to borrow a phrase from Leanne)….I decided I could ‘’adapt & pivot. I sent an email that I would host the party.  Got to get up super early tomorrow and get the house ready!!!

Michael and I were up at 7 AM on Wednesday (12/17), and I think we did an excellent job getting ready.  I did manage to make a pan of raspberry/oatmeal bar cookies (I just love that recipe….thx Connie!):

so here’s my dessert tray (with additional thanks to Diane for leaving me so many key lime bars at the tea….I just had to thaw them out and my dessert platter was complete...that's what the hostess was to provide....a dessert!):

Everything was done early and I got to spend a bit of time in the studio before the other members showed up at 1 PM….bringing yummy food (I also made the poppyseed sliders for this party):

Everything was wonderful and we sat around the kitchen table for over 2 hours, just eating and talking (with a little bit of show and tell):

Pam stayed behind when everyone else left and we poured drinks and headed to the living room to talk for over 2 more hours….it was just delightful.

I headed to the studio after that and finally got the binding put on the second half of a wheelchair quilt for a TOTALLY FINISHED QUILT:

My evening was spent with a bit more knitting and TV watching.
